A healthy lifestyle always comes with its challenges,
depending on the person. The challenge in achieving it for me is working in the
offshore industry. After going to school for five years I am now working for a
company involving month-to-month rotations, meaning I’m home for a month and at
sea for a month.
During my time at home with various
exercise opportunities, a kitchen of my own and endless nutritious food choices
a healthy lifestyle is easily achievable. My time at sea is completely
different. Faced with limited exercising areas along with cafeteria-style food
including high sodium contents and all the sugar temptations you could possibly
imagine, it seems as though the struggles in achieving this healthy lifestyle
are never ending.
This blog will be a place where I can share
my steps towards a healthy lifestyle, both on and offshore. During my time at
home focuses will include healthy cooking recipes, baking options, exercises
worth including in workouts, etc. During my time at sea I will focus on my
current challenges such as unhealthy foods, having minimal nutritious ingredients
to eat, small exercising spaces, etc.
I hope that by sharing my experiences, insight and knowledge others can find strength to overcome their own challenges in achieving a healthy lifestyle. No matter how many struggles you are faced with, in the end it really is about the will power you have to come out on top.
So here it all is in, "The Not-So-Sea Food and Me."
